How To: Get Younger Looking Skin Using Makeup

"WARNING - you may get seriously addicted..."

Mature MakeupAny women out there looking to simplify yet master their morning regimes? Using the wrong makeup or the wrong application just makes you look more aged and nobody wants that. As we get older so does the look of our skin and if we have the tools and skills to make ourselves appear healthier why not get on board right? Have a read on for a few simple tips to polish up your look.

Tip 1.

Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize. Keep your skin happy with a moisturizing cleanser, an exfoliant and of course a moisturizer. There are all kinds of products out there but just make sure you choose a moisturizer that suits your skin type and its a bonus if you grab one that contains antioxidants and has anti-aging properties. Serums are a great addition if your feeling like you need a little more.

A few of my recommendations :

Cleanser-Tata Harper’s Regenerating Cleanser is a 2 in 1 cleanser and exfoliator that is super gentle yet nourishing a sloughs off those skin cells.

Serum-Tata Harper’s Rejuvenating Serum is a great step towards anti-aging. If you want to boost it even more go all the way for the Elixir Vitae, this serum means business it is one step below botox and is 100% Natural, what would you rather?

Moisturizer-Make sure to go for a moisturizer that contains Vitamin A, C and E such as Dermalogica’s Dynamic Skin Recovery. It has an SPF 30 which is super important at every age to have sunscreen protection.

Tip 2.

Less is MORE. If you choose to wear foundation, try a tinted moisturizer of mix your foundation with your moisturizer to thin it out and apply using a beauty blender as it will blend so easier and apply more sheer. A great concealer to add is one that contains highlighting pigment, so keep those under eyes looking rested (even when they really aren’t).

Tip 3.

Eyebrows are super important. As we reach a certain age, our eyesight goes too and a lot of women have a little more trouble seeing what they are plucking. I recommend using a PRO such as Alisha Noon, t keep up on the shape, she is an eyebrow guru and no matter what she has to work with, well, she will make it work. For everyday be sure to use a soft toned eyebrow pencil or pen to fill in where needed, no harsh pigments.

Tip 4.

Its all in the eyes. As our eyes start changing you can choose to opt out of wearing any eye makeup but with so many great products on the market they are here to help. Choose a brown eyeliner versus black, even choose brown mascara if your are more fair, but there are great liners and mascaras that don’t smudge or flake and come off with such ease. Try Geisha Ink  or Kevyn Aucoin for mascara and eyeliners.

Tip 5.

Always choose a moisturizing lip conditioner or lipstick. Forget the ‘matte’ look it will only create smaller looking lips and accentuate more fine lines. A great organic brand with lots of colour choices is Ilia Pure Lip Care, they also make multi use sticks, for cheeks and lips. You will get a lot of use out of my favourite highlighter Polka Dots and Moonbeams. WARNING – you may get seriously addicted to this line.
